DroneControl’s Latest Release: Object Detection, In-flight Instant Media and Mission Reporting

DroneControl’s latest release brings three powerful capabilities to your drone operation: real-time Object Detection, upgraded Instant Media Upload and Flight Missions. Together, they help teams share critical information during an operation and turn flight activity into clear, accessible records afterwards.

Object Detection: Real-Time Awareness Across Your Team

DroneControl’s new Object Detection automatically highlights people, vehicles and boats in the live camera view. Available on supported DJI Matrice 4 and DJI Matrice 400 configurations, it provides an additional visual aid to help pilots spot objects of interest during search and rescue, public safety and maritime operations.

That awareness extends beyond the pilot. Detection overlays are shared alongside the live video through DroneControl’s Remote Viewer, allowing remote colleagues to see the highlighted objects as the operation unfolds.

Teams can access the detection-enhanced view within the Live Operations hub in the DroneControl portal or open the Remote Viewer independently in a browser. This gives colleagues in a command centre, office or field location a shared visual reference to support coordination and decision-making.

The same live view is also available within TAK, bringing aerial observations directly into the tools teams already use to coordinate operations. Pilots, remote viewers and TAK users can work from the same visual context, helping them communicate clearly when time matters.

Instant Media Upload: Access Detailed Imagery Before Landing

DroneControl’s upgraded Instant Media Upload seamlessly transfers photos and videos captured during flight—including Full HD and 4K video—directly into the DroneControl portal as they become available, while the drone is still airborne.

Uploaded content is accessible in the pilot’s media area and in the team’s media area for account administrators. Teams can begin reviewing detailed imagery during the operation, without waiting for the aircraft to return and files to be transferred manually.

This matters when the live stream alone does not provide enough detail. A high-resolution photograph can help colleagues examine a potential finding, while a recorded video can provide context for an assessment. Earlier access allows teams to review evidence and request additional imagery while the pilot is still on site and the drone is airborne.

For emergency responders, this supports faster assessment and more informed resource deployment. For inspection teams, it helps colleagues identify whether further images are needed before the flight ends, reducing avoidable return visits.

Flight Missions: Bring the Whole Operation Together

An operation often involves multiple flights, pilots and drones. Flight Missions lets you consolidate related flight logs into a single mission record, giving your team a complete view of the activity supporting an incident, inspection or deployment.

An automatic summary makes it easier to communicate the mission to management and external stakeholders. By bringing individual flight records together, teams can reduce manual reporting, support operational reviews and demonstrate the work carried out.

Whether you are documenting a search and rescue deployment, coordinating an infrastructure inspection or reporting on a public safety operation, Flight Missions helps turn flight logs into a meaningful account of the wider mission.

From Live Operations to Clear Reporting

These updates connect what happens in the air with the people who need to act on it. Object Detection helps teams spot and share objects of interest. Instant Media Upload makes detailed imagery available during the flight. Flight Missions brings related flight records together for reporting and review.

The result is a more connected workflow—from the first aerial observation to the mission summary shared with management and stakeholders.
