Last weekend, DroneControl alongside our UK partner heliguy had the privilege of participating in the inaugural UK Emergency Robotics Responders Organisation (UKERRO) Summit, held on April 26–27 at the Greater Manchester Fire & Rescue Training & Safety Centre. This landmark event brought together emergency responders, drone specialists, and robotics innovators from across the UK and beyond to explore the evolving role of unmanned systems in crisis response.
Real-World Scenarios, Real-Time Learning
The summit featured immersive, scenario-based training exercises designed to replicate real-world emergencies. Exercises included simulated search-and-rescue missions, hazardous material incidents, and multi-agency coordination drills. These exercises highlighted the critical role of drones in providing rapid situational awareness and enhancing operational safety.

A key aspect of the event was the implementation of Altitude Angel’s Guardian UTM Approval Services, which ensured safe and coordinated drone operations within the dedicated airspace. This integration allowed multiple UAVs to operate simultaneously without interference, showcasing the importance of effective airspace management in emergency scenarios.

Expert Insights and Technological Innovations
The summit also featured a series of expert-led sessions, including a notable presentation by FPV specialist Tom Palmaers. His insights into first-person-view drone operations provided valuable guidance for responders looking to enhance their tactical capabilities.
Throughout the event, attendees had the opportunity to engage with the latest advancements in emergency robotics, from cutting-edge UAV platforms to integrated communication systems. These innovations are set to redefine the landscape of emergency response, offering new tools and strategies for first responders.

Looking Ahead
Participating in UKERRO 2025 was an invaluable experience for DroneControl. The event not only provided a platform to demonstrate our technologies but also facilitated meaningful collaborations with industry leaders and emergency services personnel. We are inspired by the collective commitment to enhancing emergency response through robotics and look forward to contributing to this evolving field.
