DroneControl Featured on ITV as South Wales Fire and Rescue Service Trials Next-Generation Drone Operations

We’re incredibly proud to share that DroneControl technology was recently showcased on national UK television as part of an ITV News feature highlighting the pioneering work of the South Wales Fire and Rescue Service drone team. The feature focused on the service becoming one of the first in the UK to trial advanced new drone capabilities to support emergency response operations.

For all of us at DroneControl, seeing our technology supporting real-world frontline operations in such a high-profile environment is a huge milestone — but more importantly, it reflects the incredible innovation and operational leadership coming from emergency services teams across the UK.

A special thank you goes to lead drone pilot Kev Dite and the entire South Wales Fire drone unit for their support, professionalism, and continued willingness to push operational innovation forward. Their team continues to demonstrate how drones are becoming an essential tool for modern emergency response, improving situational awareness, operational safety, and decision-making in complex incidents.

The ITV report highlighted how advanced drone systems are increasingly being used to support firefighters and first responders during critical incidents, providing aerial intelligence and live operational visibility that would previously have been difficult or impossible to achieve safely.

Within the feature, DroneControl’s live streaming and operational management capabilities formed part of the deployed workflow, enabling secure real-time video transmission from the field to remote viewers and command teams. As emergency services continue to evolve their use of unmanned systems, the ability to securely share live operational intelligence instantly is becoming mission-critical.

This is exactly why DroneControl was built.

Our platform is designed specifically for professional drone organisations operating in demanding environments — from fire and rescue and policing to search and rescue, critical infrastructure, and civil protection. By combining secure live streaming, fleet management, pilot management, operational oversight, automated flight logging, and remote access capabilities into a single ecosystem, we aim to simplify and strengthen drone operations for frontline teams.

The work being carried out by South Wales Fire and Rescue Service also reflects a much wider movement happening globally. Emergency services organisations are rapidly expanding the role of drones beyond simple aerial imaging into integrated operational tools that support command, coordination, safety, and public protection.

At DroneControl, we’re proud to be supporting that evolution.

To see technology developed by our team featured on national television while helping support real operational capability is something we’re extremely proud of — and it reinforces our commitment to building industry-leading tools for the people who rely on them most.

Thank you again to Kev Dite, everyone at South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and ITV for the trust, collaboration, and continued support.

We’re excited for what comes next.
